What is DAPHnE?
The DAPHnE project (an acronym for Data Journalism Practices from Higher Education towards VET Providers) is an initiative funded by the Erasmus+ program that aims to bridge the digital skills gap in journalism and communication. The project promotes the exchange of multidisciplinary knowledge and innovative teaching by integrating data science, AI, statistical literacy, and storytelling into academic and professional training. The project’s name honors the Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. With a duration of 36 months, the consortium brings together 11 partners from four countries (Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Spain) to create structured and accessible educational pathways for higher education students, vocational education and training (VET) students, and professionals in the media and business sectors. Professional Competency Framework
A clear definition of the competencies required for the profile of a modern Data Journalist.
Modular Learning Units (“Pills”)
At least 15 short, flexible learning units (up to 2 hours each) that can be integrated into existing curricula.
Online Platform and MOOCs
An open-access learning management system hosting three Massive Open Online Courses in multiple languages.
ISCED-7 Curriculum
A Master’s-level course structure for higher education.
ISCED-5 Curriculum
A specialized vocational training course tailored to the needs of the labor market.
Certified Qualification
Integration of ICDL certifications in Data Analytics, providing internationally recognized digital credentials.
Outreach Materials
A project website, social media channels (LinkedIn), interactive brochures, and 6 e-newsletters.
Impact Events
Organization of 4 national multiplier events and a Final European Conference to present the results.
